Since Trinity observes the ancient seasons of the Church, we note that this is now the Epiphany Season (began Jan. 6). What's that? Well, the name means "appearing" or "revelation." That refers to the ancient story of the "wise men" who came to honor the new born king, Jesus. The Church from the earliest days, saw in these exotic characters the fulfillment of God's plan to offer his Savior to all nations, just as the Church continues to do today. After all, Jesus was born a Jew among Jews. That "magi from the east" or that you and I are offered a place in the Kingdom of God is a surprise gift. St. Paul had a tough time persuading folks of his time that the Christian message was for all nations of the world. The call of Epiphany is God's call for us to see, hear and receive him, as he hears, sees and receives us unconditionally. That's Good News. And that's what we at Trinity are about, whatever the season.
