Ingrid A. Nebel

Ingrid A. Nebel (nee Prahlow) Born October 9, 1955, whole in Christ’s heavenly kingdom on Thursday, August 26, 2021. Dear wife of Mark (deceased); admired mother of Jocelyn Theiss (Mark) and Katie Nebel; adoring “Gramma” of Daniel; cherished daughter of Don and Patricia (deceased) Prahlow; precious step-daughter of Jane Prahlow (deceased); beloved sister of James (Linda), Matthew (Jane) and Kirstin Stellfox (Tim); daughter-in-law of Carlton Nebel (Bernice, deceased) and Peggy Alpirn (Marty, deceased); sister-in-law of Dawn Lynn (Mark), Jeannie Crosby (Mike), Susan Dobrinic (Joe) and Mary Stockton (Chris); faithful follower of Jesus and relentless cancer warrior. Dear aunt, cousin, niece, and friend to many.

A graduate of Concordia University Chicago (River Forest), Ingrid was an accomplished flute player in the university wind symphony and voted to the homecoming court her Senior year as Princess. She later received her Master’s degree in Educational Technology from Concordia Wisconsin. Ingrid served as a Lutheran elementary school teacher for several years in Kalispell, MT and Hollywood, FL, before moving back to her hometown of St. Louis to serve 3rd through 5th grade students for over 25 years, ending her ministry at Grace Chapel in Bellefontaine Neighbors.

Inspired by her childhood family trips, Ingrid instilled a love of history and travel early in her daughters and taught them to love national parks and read everything in every museum. Ingrid fulfilled her life’s wish last year to be a “Gramma” and delighted in her grandson often. For fun, Ingrid read whole libraries of books to stay informed and sharp, and she couldn’t resist a good cup of local coffee or wine with a square of dark chocolate.

She fought back cancer valiantly, first in 2004, then in 2016 until her fight ended at the incomparable Mayo Clinic. Her Lord was with her always, and we rejoice she has received her crown of victory and an eternal clean bill of health.

In lieu of flowers, the family is asking donations to be sent in Ingrid’s honor to:
